Very good food & staff
Always a quality experience. The service and food always excellent and in the panoramic, curved restaurant, overlooking the railway station and Booths (the good grocer) and the distant mountains, it a situation that would not be out of place in Switzerland.

We decided to visit Lakeland today as the weather was so bad. First stop the cafe which was just lovely although a few Christmas decorations would have made the cafe more chrissmy as the tree at the entrance was fab..which we could see from our seats. Soup & sandwich went down well as did the fruit scone & cheese scone + tea and coffee. Nice staff and good service. Would recommend.
Usually call in to Lakeland to pick up home wear that is difficult to obtain elsewhere. New kettle and new water filter this time. Neither was particularly cheap but you get what you pay for. Went upstairs to the 'First Floor Cafe' for a snack and a cup of tea and was a little disappointed as not up to their usual standards. Had the impression that the sandwich was just thrown together and the chipped enamel plate didn't help much either. Toilets nice and clean.
