Wonderful grown up luxury hotel for adults, of any age. Very clean, and finished to a great standard of decor. Food fabulous. Nothing was any trouble. Friendly staff. For a five star hotel this was far from pretentious. Would be very happy to visit again.

Took my girlfriend here for what I hoped would be a special birthday meal. We arrived a little early and the friendly and helpful gentleman behind the reception desk sat us in the bar with a drink so we could study the menu. The food arrived in good time (as you would expect when only 3 people are in the restaurant) but was uninspiring to put it politely. I chose chicken terrine followed by the turkey escalope whilst my girlfriend had confit duck followed by venison, these 4 dishes were unfortunately all lacking in any depth of flavour at all, the duck was dry as was the turkey, as was dauphinoise potatoes which were served with the venison, the accompanying vegetables and stuffing to the turkey were also bland. Our bill was 75 for these 4 dishes and 3 drinks, I have no issue paying this price if i consider the meal to be value for money, something which on this occasion it certainly was not, especially when considering the local competition.
Really enjoyed our stay, the food was exquisite, service was very good indeed. Indulgent.
Visited back in February so a slightly delayed review. Wonderfully comfortable hotel with nice friendly owners who were very approachable. In-house restaurant was also delicious. Would definitely stay again.Fantastic baths were very welcome after some long walks in the Lakes!
